Rosie Roldan, D.M.D., M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). At the UTHSCSA, Dr. Roldan teaches, Hospital Dentistry, Dental Pharmacological and Pediatric Medicine courses. She is also a consultant in various pediatric areas for the Santa Rosa Hematology Oncology Physicians Group, University of Texas Pediatrics Residency Program , and Center for Children and Family, the Austin Brackenridge Hematology Clinic and Harlingen Hematology clinic. At Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital she and the Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and belongs to the Medical Executive Committee involved in implementation of protocols, policy changes, and peer review among other duties.

In addition to her work as an educator, Dr. Roldan has conducted national continued medical education lectures on pediatric dental topics for the physician as well as education on medical topics for the dentist. She is also the principal investigator in Project Smile. Project Smile is a program funded through a HRSA grant that intends to teach physicians about infant oral health and the application of fluoride as prevention for caries. The intention is to target the children in the underserved community. Currently she is involved in research projects to assess linkage between obesity, stress and caries index in children. At the community level, Dr. Roldan has participated in multiple health fair screenings and education for the Latino population. Recently, she has implemented a community dental clinic for pregnant women.

Dr. Roldan was the recipient of the 2004 40 Under 40 award. This award recognizes 40 men and women 40 years old or younger for the dedication, creativity, initiative and achievement early in their careers. Dr. Roldan was also the recipient of the 2004 the Hispanic Excellence Faculty Award. She has been supported by the Hispanic Center of Excellence as a Research Faculty Fellow from Sept. 2003 to August 2005. In 2004, she was selected as an ADA Diversity in Leadership Fellow. Dr. Roldan is an active member in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In the American Academy of Pediatrics she represents the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in the Collaborative Oral Health Initiatives Work Group. She is an active member of the Hispanic Dental Association since 2002 and is a member of their Legislative Committee since 2004 .

She has provided outstanding mentorship undergraduate students through the Hispanic Center of Excellence. This program provides direct hands on mentorship of Hispanic students who are interested in careers in dentistry and dental academics. . She has mentored research projects all looking at the relationship between oral health status and other general health issues mostly related to mother-child or minority populations She has also provided mentorship to numerous pediatric dentistry residents at UTHSCSA .

After earning an undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Dr. Roldan moved to Philadelphia to continue her education and obtain a doctorate degree in dentistry from Temple University . After completing her doctorate degree in Dentistry, Dr. Roldan moved to San Antonio to obtain her Doctorate in Medicine from the University in Texas Health Science Center . At the University of Texas at San Antonio , she also completed her residency in Pediatric Dentistry and an internship in Pediatrics. She is the only person in the country who is trained as a pediatric dentist and physician.
