Magda de la Torre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene, School of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio . She is a graduate of both the Certificate and Bachelor of Science Programs from the UTHSCSA Dental Hygiene Department and obtained her Master in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from the School of Rural Public Health at Texas A&M University .

She has vast experience in implementing culturally competent and culturally sensitive components of health programs while working with national, state and local programs and organizations. She has been an invited speaker to several Universities and Conferences nationwide to speak on cultural competency to both students and faculty.

Ms. de la Torre has also served as an Education and Communication Liaison for the National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc. and as Health Program Officer for the Center for Health Policy Development, Inc. Priorities for Ms. de la Torre are border health issues, migrant health and health disparities.
